Good news everyone. I've got my hands on building lastest EFL and Enlightenment. Process has just started, and I have no clear estimate then it will be finished. But I have good feeling about it - expect all repos (Fedora 20 and Fedora 19) to be ready by weekend.

Enlightenment 0.18 for Fedora 20

It has been some time since I done last build of enlightenment packages into FMD repository. That's because Enlightenment is in main (Everything) Fedora repository. Sadly it does not includes E18, recently released. So I waited some weeks, and did it again.
E18 and EFL-1.8 replace previous versions and don't live together alongside. It works pretty stable for me, and adds some benefits too. I like pulseaudio and systemd support.
Note: enable XEmbed support in systray gadget settings, if you'd like to see skype there.
Packages are available for Fedora 19 and 20, two architectures: x86_64 and i386.
After installing fedoramd-release rpm file, you have to enable fmd-testing repository.
yum-config-manager --enable fmd-testing

Building Enlightenment 0.17.1

As you might already know, Enlightenment has 3 branches: legacy 0.16, post release and bugfix 0.17, and development 0.18. Right now I'm building E17 for Fedora Core 16. After that I'll push all 3 Fedora versions (16, 17, 18) to repository. It will be first push for Spherical Cow, and last one for Fedora Verne, since it will be declared End of Life release on 2013-02-12 (close enough).
Another good news - Enlightenment 0.17 is proposed to be a feature of Fedora 19 (surely it will be backported to FC18 too). We can get fresh and stable Enlightenment out of the box. While I was proposed by François Cami to maintain Enlightenment for FedoraProject, I'm not sure that I will have enough time for my hobby. Maintaining private repository is a lot simpler stuff, than official distro repo.
Still, I'm commited to push all my repo sources (build scripts) to public GIT repository, so everyone will be able to continue my work and make it better.

Fedora 18 — lansare marți următoare

De obicei Fedora lansează versiuni noi de dou ori pe an: în aprilie-mai (versiune impară) și octombrie-noiembrie (versiune pară). În 2012 noi nu am văzut Fedora 18. Întîrzieri urmau după întîrzieri, programatorii se luptau cu bug'uri în Anaconda cu design nou, astfel eu personal am și uitat că trebuie să fac upgrade la versiune noua, sau să sincronizez oglinda.
Dar iată că noutatea a venit neașteptată - peste 4 zile v-om vedea Fedora 18 Final (Gold) ediție. Chiar mi-ar plăcea să văd noul GNOME 3.6, integrare cu Active Directory, firewalld.
Urmează să compilez Enlightenment pentru F18, să actualizez workstation la serviciu (probabil utilizînd FedUp), netbook și desktop acasă. Apoi, în cel mult o lună vine rîndul lui Săndel - el rulează pe F16, care nu va primi actualizări deja din martie 2013.

Building Enlightenment

As you know, Enlightenment is approaching to release 0.17. Right now I'm building E17 Alpha 7, against EFL 1.7.2. Expect RPMS next Monday.

Удивительное время - осень 2012-го.

• Нежданно-негаданно в репозитории GPE начали появляться коммиты. Дата начала активности - всего неделю назад, и это после 2-х летнего перерыва. Надо вновь его собрать. Бросил это дело из за ошибок при компиляции.
• Enlightenment DR17 грозится выйти под версией 1.0. И тоже этой осенью. Сейчас похоже этап активной стабилизации продукта.
• Из за загруженности на работе (1-го сентября был запуск крупной информационной системы республиканского масштаба), был пойман врасплох пришедшей новостью о выходе Fedora 18 Alpha. Уже поставил на закачку. Скоро выложу. Надеюсь опробовать на рабочей станции.
• Для личной фотогаллереи использовал Google Picasa. Оказалось что объем полноразмерных фото в ней - макс. 1 Гб. Платить не хочется. У Flicr другие ограничения в бесплатных аккаунтах. Уже почти завел учетную запись в Яндекс.Фотки, но заметил что мой desktop'ный менеджер фото - Shotwell поддерживает также Piwigo. Развернул на Сэнделе. Не сразу заработало правда, но уже неплохо. В отличии от Gallery 2 легко перемещаться от фото к другой - стрелками влево и вправо. Надо photo.fedora.md переводить на Piwigo.

New EFL/Enlightenment build and FMD repository updates

Last weekend I've got some time to make weekly E17 rebuild. Packages are from SVN revision r70949 (dated 2012-05-11). And they do work much better than previous ones.

Now there are several changes to packaging process:

• First of all, I split off Fedora.md mirror descriptions from fedoramd-release package to fedoramd-mirrors-release package. People who need just fresh E17, won't bother seeing regional repositories for Moldova. And vice versa - moldavians who need just fast access to local mirror,  have only to install fedoramd-mirrors-release rpm file.
• I added new testing repository: fmd-testing. Note: It's not enabled by default, and may contain packages with performance regressions, and some bugs. Testing will be pushed to stable (fmd) repository few days later, after I'll try them by myself, and won't receive any notes from you via this blog.
• All fedoramd-release and fedoramd-mirrors-release packages are listed in this directory: http://repo.fedora.md/fmd/fedora/.

Last E17 build has working xkeyboard module. It's really working, though not the way I like it. I can't assign Right Win key to switch layout, and it does not work like setxkbmap or GNOME does - setxkbmap sees just one (current) layout, so I can't switch using gnome panel indicator, or gkrellm-xkb icon.

New EFL release — packaged

Then I received via twitter link to news on new EFL release cycle, I immediately did an update from svn repository and run the builder. Now results are published in FMD repository. Again - i386 and x86_64 architectures, for Fedora 15 and 16. F17 build is incomplete. It looks like my builder is using stale mirror with broken dependencies. Have to fix it and rerun.

Excessive package is outdated and has to be removed manually. Or use yum --skip-broken update command to just skip it.

I'm still waiting for working e_modules-xkbswitch. It looks a lot better now, but still useless for me. Maybe on some configurations it would be working. Please report, if you have time to test it.

Engage module is really good. Just switched to it from ibar. My wife likes it too, and she is GNOME 3 user. 🙂
